JCC to host 'Galaxy Gala'

Jasper County Conservation, partnering with Central College students and the non-profit Jasper Conservation Connection, will host the first annual “Galaxy Gala” Saturday, April 29. This inaugural event will be at Ashton Wildwood Park, located just seven miles west of Baxter and will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ashton Wildwood Park and the 55th anniversary of Jasper County Conservation. 

The outdoor event will include live music by professional harpist Juli Bey, desserts, cheeses, and local mead from Buzzed Bee Meadery. Social time will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by tours of Ashton Observatory and beautiful views of night sky guided by members of the Des Moines Astronomical Society. 

Tickets are limited and can be purchased for $25 per person. Guests can purchase tickets by contacting Jasper County Conservation at 641-792-9780. Tickets will be available until the day of the event. All guests must be at least 21 years of age.
