CMB girls knock off Knoxville

MAXWELL — Freshman Karlie Maxwell tripled her scoring output on the season with a pair of goals on May 11 for the Collins-Maxwell/Baxter girls’ soccer team.

Maxwell’s second and third goals of the season propelled the Raiders to a 5-2 win over Knoxville during non-conference action.

The win ended CMB’s four-game losing streak and improved its season record to 4-6.

The Raiders, who were outscored 25-0 in the three games before the win over Knoxville, are 1-3 in Heart of Iowa Conference play.

Junior Tatum Tremain also scored two goals for CMB.

Freshman Caitlyn Bruntz scored her seventh goal of the season and sophomore Andee Joos added an assist.

Tatum now has a team-leading eight goals on the season.

It was the second straight loss for Knoxville, which fell to 4-7 on the season.

CMB played at Grand View Christian on May 15. The Raiders played at Chariton on May 16.

Nevada 10, CMB 0

MAXWELL — CMB was shut out by the Class 1A No. 3 Nevada Cubs, 10-0, on May 8 during HOIC action.

Nevada (7-3 overall, 2-1 in the HOIC) ended the game early in the second half after leading 8-0 at halftime.
