COLLINS — Collins-Maxwell/Baxter’s baseball team was held to two hits against Roland-Story, and a fast start by the Norse was enough to claim a 5-1 road win during Heart of Iowa Conference play on June 16.

The Norse scored three runs in the first inning and went up 4-1 after two innings before coasting to their 13th win of the season.

Senior Brady Kemp had one hit, stole one base and scored the team’s lone run, and sophomore Derrick Klemme had the Raiders’ other hit and walked once.

The Raiders (3-12 overall, 2-9 in the HOIC) walked six times in the loss. Junior Travis Lindemoen walked once and stole a base.

Senior Creighton Caple took the loss on the mound after allowing three earned runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Greene County 16, CMB 9

The Raiders scored enough runs to be in position to win, but a six-error night plagued CMB during a 16-9 conference loss to Greene County on June 14.

The Raiders led 2-0 after one inning, but the Rams (5-8, 4-6) plated seven runs in the second inning and never trailed again.

The Raiders had seven hits in the game and walked nine times. Caple led the way with a pair of hits, a pair of runs and a stolen base.

Senior Tucker Maxwell had one hit, two walks, two RBIs and a run scored, Lindemoen had one hit, one run and two walks and Kemp was 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk.

Freshman Cole Damman also had one hit, scored a run, walked three times and had an RBI and Klemme had one hit, one walk and one RBI.

Lindemoen (2-2) took the loss on the mound, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts. Maxwell and freshman Carter Nelsen also pitched in relief. The Raider pitchers allowed 13 hits and surrendered four walks.

Nevada 11, CMB 1

NEVADA — Five errors plagued CMB on June 12 during a loss to Nevada during HOIC play.

The Cubs plated 11 runs in the game but only three runs were earned during Nevada’s 11-1 win over CMB.

The Raiders had only four hits in the game.

Nevada cranked out 10 hits and left 11 runners on base.

Kemp doubled and had an RBI at the plate. Lindemoen walked and scored a run and senior Brady Ross walked twice.

Kemp started on the mound and took the loss after surrendering eight runs — none earned — on eight hits with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings.

Damman and Bacon each threw in relief and combined to allow three earned runs.
