Donald Wayne Wheatcraft, 66, of Colfax, died Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 9 at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left for the family at coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Wayne and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Wheatcraft, Don was born March 17, 1951. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1969. Don proudly served in the United States Marines. He was united in marriage to Vicki Mitchell. Don worked as a welder at Johnson Machinery in Chariton, and following his retirement went to work at Casey’s in Colfax. He was a member of ABATE. Don loved Harley Davidson’s, his cat named Harley and his yard.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Vicki; three children, Heather (Mike Walker) Wheatcraft of Albia, Mary (Dave) Lawson of Mitchellville and Wyatt Wheatcraft of Melcher; three grandchildren, Brett Wheatcraft, Grace Owens and Joseph Hopkins; and a sister, Joan (Paul) Thompson of Garden City. He was preceded in death by his parents.
