James Leroy Williams, 79, of Colfax, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A memorial graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, July 3 at the Colfax Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home Monday. The son of William and Irene (Pinegar) Williams, James was born Sept. 21, 1937, in Colfax. On June 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Patricia Bucklin in Baxter. James was employed at the Monroe Table Company as a welder for 44 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing the rivers of Iowa. He also enjoyed participating in Memorial Day services at the river for several decades.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Patricia; three children, Darrell Williams and his wife Jani, Diana Smith and her husband Bryon and Danny Williams and his special friend Marla Shepley and Taylor. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Melissa Porter, Mike (Missy) Smith, Josh (Sarah) Williams, Jessica Williams and Chesley (Jessica) Williams; nine great-grandchildren, Brooke, Cameron, Baylee, Kali, Cole, Jashawn, Emerson, Malachi and Melody; one sister, Elizabeth Gragg; a sister-in-law, Janice Williams; a brother-in-law, Raymond Bucklin; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant daughter, Denise; and siblings, Delores Spidell, John Williams, Barbara Ann Gulling and Jack Williams.
