There's always something happening at Lake Red Rock. Check out these upcoming activities:

Attention boys and girls. If you are between the ages of 8 and 10 years old and would like to learn what it's like to be a Park Ranger at Lake Red Rock, sign up for one of these day camps. For more information and to pre-register, contact the Corps office.
Thurs., July 13 - Outdoor Adventurers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Boys and girls ages 11-12 years old: Have fun learning how to build a fire, make an emergency shelter, perform basic wilderness first aid, learn basic GPS skills and paddle a kayak. Group size is limited and pre-registration is required. For more information and to pre-register, contact the Corps office. (Kayaking will be dependent on wind/weather conditions.)
Thurs., July 13 - Nature Playtime at 10 a.m. at the Playscape
Nature is full of great adventures and new things to see, hear, smell, and touch. Young children and their families can join us for short activities to investigate the world. Activities each week will have a different theme and may include stories, hikes, songs, or crafts.
Fri., July 14 - Geocaching at 7 p.m. at Whitebreast Campground (meet at parking lot by park fee booth)
You're never too old for hide-and-seek: have some fun and give geocaching a try. This sport uses the technology of GPS (Global Positioning System) to hunt for caches hidden in an area. Bring your own GPS unit or borrow one from us. Learn some of the basics, then try it on your own anywhere you travel.
Sat., July 15 - Wildlife Research at Red Rock at 10 a.m. at Whitebreast Campground (meet at parking lot by park fee booth)
Join wildlife ecologist Pete Eyheralde to explore methods for surveying changes in wildlife and plant populations around Lake Red Rock. We'll be learning about reptiles, amphibians, mammals and birds.
Sat., July 15 - Pond Exploration at 1 p.m. at the Playscape
Go "mucking" at one of the lake area's wetlands. Dip nets and tubs will be available for you to try and catch some of the critters swimming and crawling in and around the area. Mucking can be messy, so please wear old shoes and clothes.
Programs are free of charge. Outdoor activities may be cancelled if raining. For more information, contact Lake Red Rock at 641-828-7522 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
